My car used to shake when accelerating over 55-60 mph. So went to Burdick for diagnosis. They diagnosed that steering rack & pinion, front lower control arms and power steering pump were required to be replaced. They quoted $7736 in total for all these services (including $89 for diagnostic and $185 for steering fluid service. Here comes my take on their diagnosis and estimate. I went to them as I wanted to avoid some chain automotive service branch. I thought they being a family business will not try to oversell and will give a fair estimate. The fact that they didn’t consider rack & pinion replacement and control arms replacement as overlapping in terms of labor hrs suggests either they don’t have proper estimation system in place or they consider their customer uneducated. Not a good situation for any prospective customer in either case. They verbally promised to take off $1000 for the overlap when I raised the question about the overlap. Now coming to the estimate for individual items in their estimate. They quoted $3005 for replacement of front lower control arms (including parts). It’s a 2011 Lexus ES350. I tried 4 more places and none of those quoted more than $1000 (including parts). They quoted $3480 for rack and pinion replacement (including parts). Other places quoted $1200-$1500. They quoted $691 for steering pump replacement. Other place informed me that this serviced was not even needed as the pump was in good working order. All in all, I got rack & pinion and control arms replaced and axle replaced for around $3500 by a reputed brand automotive service. Shaking problem is gone. You all can deduce your own conclusions. Giving 2 stars for their courtesy.

Excellent experience! The staff was courteous, honest, and efficient. They diagnosed the issue with the motor mounts quickly, completed the repairs much quicker than I expected, and charged a very reasonable price. Great customer service and quality work. I highly recommend Burdick, especially the new location in Allen!

They gave me a wonderful amount of information in their courtesy diagnostic and was able to work with them to get a competitive price on the service. Because of their hard work and thoroughness I was able to bring my other vehicle in to get an oil change. I’ll be sticking with these guys whenever I need inspections or anything else comes up on my dashboard.
